(JULY 1, 2010) – Peter Case, the critically acclaimed singer-songwriter and former frontman of the Plimsouls and the Nerves, is taking his show on the road in support of his new album Wig! (Yep Roc). For shows in the Southeast, the L.A.-based Case is hooking up with veteran Atlanta-based group What The…?, who will act as Case’s backing band.

“Backing Peter is a perfect fit for us,” says What The…? guitarist Lee Flier, whose association with Case dates back to the early 1980s, when both were part of the thriving L.A. power pop scene. “Pretty much every musical road he’s taken throughout his career is right in our kitchen – power pop, roots-rock, blues, folk, even Nerves-style punk. So we’ve followed his entire career and feel great about doing anything he wants to throw at us. And we’re really excited about taking on this new album.”

Reviews of Case’s new album have been overwhelmingly positive. All Music Guide’s Paula Carino writes, “The trio [which includes drummer DJ Bonebrake of X] laid these 12 tracks down fast, mostly live to two-inch tape with scant overdubs, and the off-the-cuff vibe creates a thrilling authenticity, hitting the sweet spot where garage rock, punk, and the visceral wail of blues converge.” The gritty, rootsy vibe is another factor that make What The…? a perfect backing band for the music. “We love the album,” says Flier. “It totally rocks, but still has a swampy, traditional feel. It’s like Exile on Main Street meets Howlin’ Wolf or something.”

This is a rare opportunity to see Case performing with a full band. What The…? will be joining him for the following dates:
